This is so great – Demi Lovato shared the video above with her fans, talking about the meaning of “Give Your Heart a Break.”

Demi narrates the video, saying, “19 years old. It’s not old. It’s not even close. But sometimes it feels like during that brief time that I’ve been alive, that I’ve lived through more emotions than someone twice my age.”

She talks about why she sings about love, explaining, “I think that’s the reason I sing about love so often in the music I make. Love goes right, love goes wrong. I’ve sung about loving someone so much that it takes your breath away. I’ve sung about the love you can find chasing your dreams and what it’s like to finally achieve that.”

But something changed, Demi shares: “Last year I began working on a song about a different kind of love. It’s about showing someone that you love that you’re right in front of them. ‘Give Your Heart a Break’ isn’t a song about having a broken heart. It’s actually funny sometimes when people think that, because it has nothing to do with that.”

She explains, “This is a song about faith, it’s a song about fighting for the one you love. It’s about living in the moment, and mostly it’s about believing you’re worth falling for.”

Demi said she thinks about something different when she sings it every night: “I think about all of you. In the past year, so many of my fans have told me songs like this have gotten them through tough spots in their lives, and to me, that’s the greatest gift music can bring. I’m grateful for all the love I’ve had in my life, but most of all I’m thankful to be able to share that love with all of you.”
